2 years six months… Still truckin

17 Sep

I am happy to say I am still continuing to improve. I have run some 5 milers and do a standard 4 miles three times per week. I still have not done that 10k I have been talking about because I have been caught up in training for a 100 mile bike ride that is in three weeks, so running has not been my priority. However, my eliptical is lonely as I have been running outside or on the treadmill whenever I am not biking. I still have a “stiff” knee after sitting long periods, but it is pretty much pain free. I’ll update either 1) after the century ride or 2) after my first organized running race.

Hi, thanks so much for sharing your stories, I am 5mos post ACI (patella) and am glad I can read what others have gone through. From skimming your posts; my experiences up to this point have been similar. What a marathon (NPI). I am also a type-A athlete (active duty USMC) and going through post-ACI recovery has probably been the toughest thing I have ever done. Glad to see that the end results look worth it. Question – was there ever a time when you worried about the graft not taking? I started pushing myself on the ellipticals last week, and man have I been paying for it this week. I don’t feel any acute paing during the exercise (doc & PT said discomfort is normal) but Knee is so sore in the a.m. when I get outta bed.
